Horses of Iceland

21st November 2017 Promote Iceland and HORSES OF ICELAND premiered a new promotional video about the Icelandic horse. The video will serve as one of main pillars of the project’s marketing strategy for the Icelandic horse and is a follow-up to the hugely successful “The five-gaits of the Icelandic horse“ video, viewed by almost one million people since its release last month.

The four-year marketing project HORSES OF ICELAND was launched in 2016 by all major organisations and institutions of the Icelandic horse community, private companies and the Icelandic state, along with Promote Iceland. Everyone who is involved in operations relating to the Icelandic horse, in Iceland and in other countries, is welcome to become a partner.

Magnificent world of adventure

The video portrays the Icelandic horse outside in Icelandic nature, highlighting its qualities and what it represents. The Icelandic horse is the manifestation of Icelandic nature, it is unique and authentic. It is not pretentious but extremely powerful, charming and versatile. Its original role as man’s most loyal servant no longer applies due to technological advances, but its modern role is no less important. The Icelandic horse opens up for us a magnificent world of adventure. It provides access to a community of people where friendship, togetherness and joy for life are of utmost importance. As a riding horse it brings people closer to nature.

Superb example of what good cooperation can achieve

“It has been very enjoyable to participate in and work on the HORSES OF ICELAND marketing project, which is a superb example of what good cooperation can achieve,” says Sveinn Steinarsson, chair of the Horse Breeders Association of Iceland, which is one of the founding partners. “We in the Horse Breeders Association of Iceland have high hopes that the project and collaboration will continue for years to come. We encourage our members and other stakeholders in the Icelandic horse to join the project as partners and take active part in shaping the focus of the marketing strategy for our fabulous horse breed.”

The Icelandic horse around the world

The purpose of the HORSES OF ICELAND marketing project is to increase the awareness of and strengthen the image of the Icelandic horse internationally, and present products and services related to it through professional marketing under the slogan: Horses of Iceland – bring you closer to nature.

This is an international project as there are Icelandic horses in 21 countries in Europe, North America and Australia. This means that all marketing material and operations must take into consideration different conditions and support the Icelandic horse’s distribution around the world. Iceland is the country of origin and it has a special place in the hearts of Icelandic horse owners everywhere. Today, the project has 60 partners.

On the video’s production

The video was produced by advertising agency Tjarnargatan. It was directed by Arnar Helgi Hlynsson, who also wrote the screenplay with Sigtryggur Magnason. Hólmsteinn Össur Kristjánsson designed the graphics and the music was written by Kjartan Hólm.
